Netherlands based Telescreen which handles worldwide (excl. North America) TV distribution as well as Merchandising for Disney Channel’s Lizzie Mc Guire, has announced that owing to fabulous performance on France 2, the channel has renewed the rights to the series for another four years. The 65 commercial half hours of Lizzie Mc Guire are on air in over 100 territories worldwide and the series is hugely popular with tweens and teens all over the world. Telescreen has also entered new licensing deals which have been made for Mexico including ones with Grupo Amiso for Lizzie McGuire plush products, with Granmark for all kinds of Lizzie McGuire paper products and DB Plus Inc. for Lizzie McGuire briefcases, bags and purses. Lizzie McGuire is a typical 13 year-old surviving adolescence along with her animated alter ego. Lizzie tries hard to navigate the turbulent years of junior high. She copes with the ever-changing cliques at school, keeps up with what’s in and what’s out and constantly deals with the embarrassment that her family causes her. Lizzie’s animated self is part guardian angel and part mischief-maker. As the real Lizzie appears calm and collected in situations dealing with everything from parental embarrassment to annoying younger brothers, her animated self pops up with some keen observations and catchy phrases. Animated Lizzie is full of humour and fun. The target audience for the series is Girls 8-14, (Too young to be an adult, too old to be a child), the target market for Merchandising is Girls ages 6-11 while the brand values are friendship, funny and trendy/hip.
