The Rookies Rankings 2021 recognised UK’s Escape Studios as one of the best institutions in the world to learn visual effects, 3D animation and game design. As per the ranking, the studio is placed first in the UK and fourth in the world for production excellence in both visual effects and 3D Animation.
This year’s rankings are based on over 4,100 portfolios from students that attended over 500 schools and colleges around the world. It has been compiled by more than 150 highly influential and respected industry experts.
Production excellence is an accolade awarded to the very best schools that focus on working as a team to create short films and short form projects. Many schools focus on teaching the core skills of animation and visual effects. However, it takes quite a different approach to creating an engaging experience that successfully replicates a production studio.
Escape Studios has also secured first position in the UK and eighth in the world for game design and development. It ranked 29th in the overall top 50 creative media and entertainment schools and colleges in the world.
“We’re delighted with the latest Rookies results, which highlight our strength in replicating the production studio experience for students. When we developed our courses, our industry partners told us that teamwork is one of the most essential skills, so building this into all we do alongside production pipelines, scheduling, resource management and problem solving, makes for a highly rewarding experience for those coming to study at Escape Studios,” said Escape Studios dean Dr Ian Palmer.
The Rookies has been ranking creative media and entertainment schools since 2009. Since then they have been following their goal of helping aspiring artists find trusted schools to help them forge successful careers in creative fields.
