Comedian Trevor Noah is reportedly working on a brand new animated feature film with Paramount Animation. The untitled project is based on an original idea from Noah. The plot is under wraps but is described as “timely, poignant and comedic”.
Jonathan Groff (Black-ish) and Jon Pollack (Modern Family) are set to write the script. Noah will produce via his Day Zero Productions, with his president of production Haroon Saleem. Norman Aladjem, Derek Van Pelt and Sanaz Yamin will also serve as producers via Mainstay Entertainment.
Noah rose to fame as the host of The Daily Show on Comedy Central. He took over from Jon Stewart in 2015. The show became especially relevant in 2020 with its commentary on pandemic conditions and the United States as a whole. He has also appeared in other movie and TV projects like Black Panther and American Vandal.
The project is the latest venture from Noah in his and Day Zero’s deal with ViacomCBS signed in March 2018. Some of their current projects in development together include a film adaptation of Noah’s award-winning autobiography Born a Crime, which will see Lupita Nyong’o (Black Panther) executive producing and starring as Noah’s mom and Liesl Tommy (Jessica Jones) set to direct.
