A number of interesting panel discussions and events have been lined up this year for the Asia Animation Conference 2006 which is being held as part of the Asia Media Festival parallel with the Asia TV Forum in Singapore from 29th Nov. to 1st Dec. 2006.
The fact that Asia‘s significance in Animation is increasing reflects in the conference which has been scaling up in the past couple of years.
The Asia Animation SuperPitch is a regional contest that puts amateur and professional animation artists and companies on the same stage, and picks their creative brains in a nerve-wrecking battle of ideas and theatrics.
Amongst the highlights at this year‘s Asia Animation Conference include Animation Super pitch, Marketing – Opportunities & Pitfalls in Animation Industry, Additionally the conference will also have sessions and events around, keynotes addresses by various eminent speakers along with panel discussion.
At the super pitch, shortlisted finalists will pitch their capabilities & ideas to a panel of commissioning editors and broadcasters. Winners stand a chance to transform their ideas into programming realities.
Indian Animation stalwart Biren Ghose who is on the jury shared with Animation Xpress.com, “Asia Animation has truly been the 1st Asian conference [outside of Japan] that has brought the industry together over the past 5 to 6 years and has fostered face to face interactions between buyers and sellers, creators and producers & also been the springboard on the financing front where Singapore, Taiwan, Korea, China and other countries have learnt how to provide resources to the sector and developed structures in keeping with industry practices.”
Talking about his role in Asia Animation Confrence, Biren added, “I am a judge at the Animation Super Pitch which is a very exciting contest featuring top flight creative talent from across the continent and then along with a select jury of individuals from across the sector we decide on the best pitch. THIS IS THE 5TH YEAR THAT the conference features the super pitch and it has been a launchpad for some of the best talent from different countries – Indonesai, Phillipines, Malaysia, Singapore, etc. The other judges are from across Canada, Malaysia, etc”
So for the next three days, all eyes on Singapore.
