Netflix has revealed a teaser and release date for Human Resources, an adult animated series spinoff of the critically acclaimed Big Mouth. While Big Mouth deals with a group of teenagers and how Hormone Monsters influence their actions, Human Resources is all about the creatures themselves, exploring what happens when humans are not around.
The teaser mimics an ad for the Human Resources company in which the fictional organization explains the importance of the creatures to making humans what they are. All the emotions that define human nature are derived from the work of these creatures in the Big Mouth universe, and the new series promises to explore what happens behind the curtains of the world’s biggest creature organization.
The streaming site has also revealed six new casting additions ahead of its 18 March premiere. They include Rosie Perez, Jemaine Clement, Thandiwe Newton, Bobby Cannavale, Henry Winkler, and Maria Bamford. Perez portrays Petra the Ambition Gremlin, Clement portrays Simon Sex, Newton plays Mona the Hormone Monstress, Cannavale plays Gavin the Hormone Monster, Winkler plays Keith from Grief, and Bamford plays Tito the Anxiety Mosquito.
The Big Mouth spinoff pulls back the curtain on the daily lives of the creatures – Hormone Monsters, Depression Kitties, Shame Wizards, and many more – that help humans journey through every aspect of life from puberty to childbirth to the twilight years. It quickly becomes clear that though the creatures are the protagonists, they have a lot of humanity themselves.
Co-created and executive produced by Kelly Galuska alongside Nick Kroll, Andrew Goldberg, Jennifer Flackett and Mark Levin, who inked an overall deal with the streamer under their Brutus Pink animation production banner in 2019, the new series launches with 10 episodes globally on 18 March, exclusively on Netflix. Titmouse is once again providing the animation.
All five seasons of Big Mouth are already available on the streaming platform, with the sixth season expected to arrive later this year.
