Anirights Infomedia is abuzz with activity of late. The studio which has shifted base to Pune (watch out for an exclusive case study on relocating a studio) is on an expansion spree and is ramping up its leadership team as well as artist base.
The latest additions to the company‘s leadership team are Praful Gade who joins as VP- 3D Animation Pipeline, and Shamboo Phalke who joins as VP – 2D Animation Pipeline.
Speaking to AnimationXpress.com , Anirights Founder & CEO Ashish Kulkarni shared, “Going by the kind of scale and size that Anirights is looking to achieve in the next five years, both Prafull and Shambhoo are ideal additions to our leadership team. They bring more than a couple of decades‘ experience in handling large teams, feature productions and long form animation projects”
In his 20 year long career in this field, Gade has worked in various capacities leading teams at Prasad Studios, Chromatic Technologies amongst others. Prior to joining Anirights, he was Chief of Operations at Delhi based Escotoonz.
“There cannot be a better studio for me to join than Anirights” shared Praful Gade, adding, “I wouldn‘t have wanted to miss an opportunity like this. This place has a strong philosophy, vision, a very scalable model and a very strong team. Over the past two years, Anirights has done some pioneering work with regards to IP creation as well as in building a team that understands the IP creation process. I am glad to join this company which sets trends rather than follow them.”
Commenting on Gade‘s joining as VP for CG Pipelines, Anirights Kulkarni remarked, “I feel that Gade‘s experience of the past 20 years is extremely critical for our CG Pipeline. He has spent sufficient number of years with traditional animation as well as post production and CG and his experience and maturity match exactly with what we were looking for”
Shamboo Phalke who joins Anirights as VP “2D Animation Pipeline has been thoroughly involved with animation projects, his past roles including COO “Colorchips India Ltd., Studio Head “Kingdom Animation (Phillipines) a group company of Pentamedia Ltd., and prior to joining Anirights, Phalke was SVP “Operations at MEL. Phalke also has the distinction of directing the 2D animated feature Legend of Buddha.
Phalke shared his perspective on Anirights and what led him to join the company. “I have always wanted to work on original IP and I have had some opportunity in the past which I have partaken of. With Anirights, I see a lot of value adds across the chain in terms of philosophy, scale, infrastructure and funds. I see that I am entering an evolved company where I will not need to reinvent the wheel but apply my experience in steering things.”
Kulkarni remarked, “The Anirights 2D pipeline is primarily focused towards feature films for the domestic markets. (At least for the initial phase). We as an IP company are looking at a balanced approach for pipelines with an understanding of human resource, technology, story and audience. Shambhoo‘s experience with creation of end to end traditional feature film and pipeline integration using skills from multiple countries and cultures is a great asset to our 2D feature film pipeline.”
Hinting at more inclusions and additions to the leadership team, Kulkarni concluded sharing, “There‘s a lot more in store, we are just getting our act together‘
