GIPHY Arts has launched a fresh collaboration with award-winning animation studio Cartuna, generating a collection of shorts showcasing the work of 60 animators from around the world. Dubbed Heads Up!, the bite-sized pieces are available to share via GIPHY Clips presently.

Every episode features a unique set of animators that had free rein in their interpretation of Cartuna’s fun and inventive prompts. The shorts tap into different cultural perspectives to universal subjects such as recipes and sports, as well as bizzare explorations into human existence and perplexing questions like what one might find on their way to the earth’s core.
According to Cartuna, “Heads Up! projectiles are flying in this exquisite corpse from Cartuna X GIPHY. Animators play a game of catch showcasing cultural pastimes, reminiscing on childhood memories and exploring the wacky imaginations of artists from around the world.”
There are various participating artists in Heads Up!, some of them include Bujor Stefanescu, Keith Garces, Dan Forke, Jason Joannes, Miguel Duarte, Pattama Homrod, Sopedou Fu, Rachael Greenfield, Kiana Caines, Carl D’Arpa, Xinhui Ma, Hoss Wheeler, Preston Spurlock, Misato, Jenny He, Beeld Motion, Kimmie King, Angélica Agélviz and Connor Yarish. The project was polished with sound design by Logan Baldwin, music by William Benckert and editing by Ben Bishop.
Founded in Bushwick, Brooklyn (NY) in 2015, Cartuna is an award-winning, full-service animation studio producing for TV, feature film, music videos, shorts and commercials. Commissioned work includes animated reimaginings of VMA performances by Backstreet Boys, Doja Cat and Lil Nas X (MTV); My Squishy Little Dumpling “Can You Resist the Squish?!” and SpongeBob Reimagined (Nickelodeon).
Cartuna’s original creations include series Magical Girl Friendship Squad (SYFY TZGZ), Loafy (Comedy Central), Liverspots and Astronots (Facebook Watch) and Sundance Indie Episodic premiere Tammy’s Tiny Tea Time, as well as festival feted works including Michaela Olsen’s short Under Covers, Emily Ann Hoffman’s Blackheads and Penny Lane’s Nuts.
