The 13th season trailer for FX’s Archer has been released. The world’s greatest spy, Sterling Archer, will be back in the Emmy award-winning adult animated comedy series, which will also show how the team is adjusting to a leadership void at the very top of the agency.
The spy-comedy series’ new season’s trailer depicts the main character, Malory Archer, from the outset struggling with his mother’s absence. Malory’s voice was provided by Jessica Walter, who sadly passed away last year. While she is away, Archer observes that he is now formally in charge of himself and can do as he pleases, including not helping out on missions. The desire to carry on his mother’s legacy is something that Archer struggles with throughout the trailer, and it seems to be a very heavy burden. There is a question of who should be in charge now that The Agency is under new ownership, and a few hats have been thrown in the ring.
Archer no longer cares about being the responsible one because he already has to deal with the burden of his mother’s legacy. The conversations that are being had throughout the trailer have a lighthearted air to them, but there is also a suggestion of an underlying emotion for the upcoming season as the show continues to honour Walter and the leadership void she left behind. It appears to be one that won’t be easily filled.
Created by Adam Reed, the series first premiered in 2009. The voice cast of the series includes H. Jon Benjamin as Sterling Archer, Aisha Tyler as Lana Kane, Judy Greer as Cheryl/Carol Tunt, and Chris Parnell as Cyril Figgis along with Reed, Lucky Yates and Amber Nash. The new season will include other voice cast members like Kenan Thompson, Christian Slater, Alison Pill, Stephen Tobolowsky and Kavyan Novak. The show is executive produced by Casey Willis, Matt Thompson and Reed at Floyd County Productions. FX Productions has produced the show.
Season 13 of Archer will premiere on 24 August on FXX and new episodes will air each week. The series can also be streamed on Hulu.
