A Productions gets shortlisted for national award for ‘The Monster at the End of This Story’

Leading Bristol-based animation production studio, A Productions, has been shortlisted for a national award for its work on The Monster at the End of This Story, Sesame Workshop’s first Sesame Street animated special for HBO Max.

The nomination is for the Best Longform award in the British Animation Awards (BAAs), which celebrate the very best of the UK animation industry. The winners will be revealed at a ceremony at the BFI Southbank in London on 12 March.

A Productions is a creative-led, multi-discipline animation production studio with a strong reputation for producing award-winning children’s content for broadcasters and streamers. Founded in 1985, A Productions has grown to a 150-strong team and is now based across two studios at Colston Street and Old Market, Bristol.

The Monster at the End of This Story is based on Sesame Workshop’s all-time best-selling picture book The Monster at the End of This Book. Directed by A Productions’ joint managing director and founder Mark Taylor, The Monster at the End of This Story is the official special of Sesame Street’s 51st season, which is available on HBO Max and is coming soon to PBS.

A Productions joint MD Katherine McQueen said, “We are thrilled to have been shortlisted for this award, which is testament to the passion, creativity, and commitment of our wonderful team who created this show together with Sesame Workshop during the challenges of lockdown. It’s been an exciting year for A Productions with numerous nominations for international and national awards, our expansion to a second studio, and our recently announced strategic partnership with Cyber Group Studios. We are busy working on a full slate of brilliant new productions and are looking forward to seeing what 2022 will bring.”

A Productions recently became part of Cyber Group Studios, a leading multi-award-winning international producer and distributor of animated programs.

A Productions is trusted to work with some of the world’s most iconic characters with notable productions including JoJo and Gran-Gran for CBeebies, the first UK pre-school animation to center around a black British family; Love Monster for CBeebies; The Tweenies for CBeebies; and Furry Friends forever: Elmo Gets a Puppy for Sesame Workshop.

The studio is also part of the team that picked up two Daytime Emmy Award nominations, a Royal Television Society (RTS) West of England award and nomination, as well as an accolade at the Broadcast awards last year.
