A Productions, a UK-based animation production studio, and Cyber Group Studios, a producer and distributor of animated programs for kids and families, announced the start of production of the brand new adventure-comedy superhero series, Digital Girl.
Commissioned by BBC (United Kingdom) and pre-sold to Super RTL (Germany) and Discovery Kids (Latin America), the series aimed at kids, is set to be delivered in late 2024.
Digital Girl is produced by A Productions (United Kingdom), a creative-led, multi-discipline studio based in Bristol, UK, which produces award-winning children’s content for many major UK and US broadcasters and streamers. Cyber Group Studios, which has helped secure international pre-sales financing, has been attached to the series as the worldwide distributor.
The series, set in an ecological Frisco City of the future, will benefit from CGS new FX and real-time technology to create breakthrough new content.
“We are thrilled to have begun production on this new action-packed animated series, featuring two teenage girls who will inspire and entertain young audiences as they go on an epic adventure”, said A Productions joint MD Katherine McQueen. “It joins a fantastic roster of shows that our talented creative team is currently working on, so we’re very much looking forward to an exciting year ahead.”
“We’re very excited to be working with such amazing partners on Digital Girl,” said Pierre Sissmann, Chairman and CEO of Cyber Group Studios and creator of the series. “This is a show kids will easily relate to. The dual themes of everyday high school life and the excitement of the newest technologies will resonate with viewers, while the series’ action-packed adventure and storylines with humorous twists and turns will surely keep them entertained throughout.”
Digital Girl (26×22’) is set in an ecological and futuristic version of a city called Frisco City, where social networks, the internet, digital bots, and viruses represent opportunities and challenges to overcome. The series follows two 13-year-old best friends, Chrissie (Digital Girl) and Bella (Hack Girl), in their struggle to dominate the digital networks to protect the world and their families and ensure their own future. The fast pace of the multiverse, its avatars, and its altered reality will create many occasions for both Digital Girl and Hack Girl to try and find the right solution while leading normal teenage high school lives as Chrissie and Bella.
In addition to Sissmann (Gigantosaurus, Zorro the Chronicles, Taffy), the series creator, Digital Girl is co-written with Sylvain Dos Santos (Droners, Imago) and head writer Rebecca Hobbs (Sadie Sparks, Jade Armor).
