Earlier today Twitterati went crazy on demanding #JusticeForChutki, after the news of Chhota Bheem marrying Indumati made the rounds of social media.
One of the most popular animated shows for kids, Chhota Bheem is equally enjoyed by some adults. Set in the fictional kingdom of Dholakpur, the series revolves around Bheem and his friends Chutki, Raju, Jaggu, Rajkumari Indumati with frenemies Kalia, Dholu and Bholu embarking on exciting adventures and fascinating journeys.
Several memes and pictures flooded Twitter and Instagram by terming Bheem as the ‘cheater’ who left his best friend Chutki to marry the princess Indumati. Now Green Gold Animation, the makers of the famous animated IP, has released an official statement by calling the news fake and the entire frenzy irrelevant and baseless.
The animation company said that Chhota Bheem and his team mates are still kids and they want to portray them “as children only and not bring love and marriage in their innocent lives.”
Green Gold Animation founder and CEO Rajiv Chilaka also confirmed AnimationXpress about the news being absolutely fake.
This news suggests how an entire story was ‘made up’ and went viral only due to some pictures, jokes and memes. Though on a much lighter tone, this also indicated how the circulation of ‘fake news’ is becoming rampant in the country.
Chhota Bheem originally airs on POGO, but is also simulcasted on Doordarshan during this lockdown due to the pandemic. It’s one of the most famous animated IPs from India which has got huge success beyond the waters mostly with its spin-off prequel, Mighty Little Bheem streaming on Netflix.
