Disney creates character face masks, donates proceeds to charity

Disney is introducing non-medical face masks featuring some of its most popular characters from across its multiverse, including Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars, as people are wearing masks in public to limit the spread of the coronavirus.

The characters also include Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Anna and Elsa, Woody and Buzz Lightyear, the Avengers, R2D2 and The Mandalorian character people call Baby Yoda.

Disney will donate one million masks to underserved communities via humanitarian aid organisation MedShare, and all profits from the mask sales in the US through 30 September, up to $1 million, also will go to MedShare.

The masks which come in packs of four in various sizes, including children’s sizes, are available for pre-order now in Disney’s online store. Disney said that the masks are designed for the (The Centre for Disease Control) CDC’s recommendation that people wear cloth face coverings when out in public to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. Cloth masks are not intended for use by medical professionals treating Covid-19 patients.
