Epson kicks off Colour Imaging Contest 2006

Global imaging products player Epson has announced the launch of its Epson Color Imaging Contest 2006, a pan-Asia competition for digitally output photographs and graphic works.

Now in its thirteenth year, this contest held since 1994, is a way for Epson to help promote the growth of digital imaging, states an official release. This is the third year that India will be participating in this pan-Asian contest. Countries from around Asia including Japan and China participate in this contest that provides a platform for India’s photographers and graphic artists to compete with the best in Asia.

As per the release, this year the total prize money will be to the tune of approximately Rs. 2.4 million.

This year the focus of the contest is being narrowed. By eliminating some of the categories featured in past years and keeping only the Color Imaging Award category, Epson seeks to provide both professionals and aspiring amateurs in the worlds of photography and graphic design a showcase for their work, the release further adds.

Works that demonstrate a free approach to photographic expression and that are produced via a digital process.

Graphics Category
Works that freely explore the depths of a wide genre of mediums — from digital design and computer graphics to brushwork, prints, illustrations, and typography — and that are produced via a digital process Entries will be judged by a panel of leaders in the world of photography and graphics in Japan. Grand Prize winners will receive 2-million yen in prize money, and Epson plans to hold an exhibition showcasing the award-winning work. The exhibition of award-winning entries is planned to be held at the Spiral Garden in Aoyama, Tokyo, Japan.
