The Indian Documentary Producers Association, currently in its 49th year of operations is inviting entries for the IDPA Awards which are scheduled to be held on 22 October 2005 in Mumbai.
The awards constitute of 14 categories and of them 2 are direct categories for animation including professional short animated film and student short animated film. Films entered must be completed in the period 1st January 2004 to 30th June 2005 and the last date for submitting entries is 8 September.
Speaking to Animation ‘xpress, IDPA treasurer Aditya Seth stated,”The IDPA is the single largest association of producers of Documentaries, Advertising films, Animation films, Short Fiction Films and TV programmes. In the 49 years of its existence, IDPA has worked in the interest of documentary and short film makers by providing a forum for like-minded professionals”
“IDPA’s main concern today is to promote Independent Short & Documentary Film making in the country & The IDPA award provides a platform geared towards achieving that end by recognising and rewarding the talent of the Indian short film maker, whatever maybe their discipline of communication” he added.
“Usually short film makers are isolated and the IDPA wants to remove them from that isolation and create a platform to recognise and promote the art” he concluded.
IDPA is undertaking a six-city road show The Best of IDPA designed to promote the awards, and network with the film making fraternity across the country. The road show shall be travelling from Mumbai to Pune, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai & Delhi culminating in the awards ceremony to be held on the 22nd of October 2005 in Mumbai.
