There’s been talks past a year that our favourite comic book, Archie will be getting a live action treatment but so far the details on who will portray the characters for this show was unknown, until now. The TV series Riverdale is set to air on The CW and is being produced by The Flash and Arrow producer Greg Berlanti. And now, the show has found their Archie Andrews, his dad and Josie (the frontwoman of Josie and the Pussycats).
KJ Apa will play the red haired high school throb Archie Andrews who’s described as “a boyish high school sophomore who got pumped up over the summer working construction and is now juggling the interest of several girls, as well as trying to balance his passion for writing and performing music — against the wishes of his father and his football coach.”
According to the press release: After casting Cole Sprouse (The Suite Life of Zack and Cody) as Jughead Jones and Lili Reinhart (Surviving Jack) as Betty Cooper in The CW’s pilot episode of the live-action Riverdale TV series, comes the news that the next member of the iconic Archie series is here! Luke Perry (Beverly Hills, 90210) has been cast as the father of Archie Andrews.
Perry’s Fred Andrews is described as “easygoing” and the owner of a construction firm who is hoping his son, who worked for him all summer, will someday take over the family business.Perry, whose series credits also include “Oz,” “John from Cincinnati,” and “Body of Proof,” is repped by TalentWorks and Himber Entertainment.
As for Josie, it’s being played by Ashleigh Murray and her character description says, “a gorgeous, snooty and ambitious girl who is the lead singer for popular band Josie and the Pussycats. She has zero interest in recording any songs written by fellow teen Archie.”
So far, most of the characters have been casted expect Archie’s another love interest Veronica, her dad, Reggie and Kevin Keller. The rest of the cast should be out within the next few weeks and if everything goes well, we can expect Riverdale to start airing from this year itself.
