The next installment from King Digital Entertainment’s stable is more saga called Candy Crush Jelly Saga. The game is currently available on iOS, Android and Windows Store.
The Jelly Saga introduces a new Jelly-filled world. The game will also feature a new protagonist named Jenny, an “adventurous yeti girl” who is on a journey to reunite with her Uncle Yeti in the Candy Kingdom.
The game introduces two new game modes; Jelly and Boss. The Jelly Mode, players have to make jellies by matching candies in sequence rather than removing them. A new gameplay has been added to the game in the form of Boss mode where players can test their skills against the Jelly Queen and her minions. Players have to compete against the AI Jelly Queen to fill the board with red jellies against her green ones. This could be start of something interesting for King going forward, with an AI currently playing against the player one could see humans replacing AI and multiplayer in works. The game will contain 120 new levels set in the Candy Kingdom.
Activision acquired King in November last year for $5.9 billion and since the last few games has seen a fall in numbers both in terms of users and revenues. A gameplay tweak will be a welcome change for users to come back to the game and compete against the AI to win their beloved board back. With Activision as the parent company and it planning a separate film and television division, King would want to explore and expand its universe into different mediums. And with King introducing characters, one would wonder if the move could come sooner than later.
