Boomerang signs global acquisition deal for Grizzy and the Lemmings

Turner Broadcasting today announced that it has completed the global acquisition of the brand-new animated series, Grizzy and the Lemmings, for its second flagship kids channel Boomerang which will debut its first-ever original programming beginning this month.

From the French production company Studio Hari, Grizzy and the Lemmings is a “new classic”, non-dialogue, playful family comedy. The series follows the hilarious exchanges of Grizzy the bear and a pesky tribe of Lemmings, as they attempt to co-exist in a forest ranger’s house in the Canadian wilderness.

The series will join Boomerang’s existing portfolio of funny, multi-generational shows, which includes The Tom and Jerry ShowScooby-Doo and Mr. Bean: The Animated Series and will launch worldwide beginning autumn 2016.

GRIZZY AND THE LEMMINGS

Cecilia Persson, vice president of acquisitions and co-productions for Turner Broadcasting International saidd that Grizzy and the Lemmings is fun and innovative and also maintains the DNA of a timeless and classic animation. She also said that It is a great fit for the Boomerang brand and will sit perfectly alongside content like the much-loved Hannah-Barbera classic, Tom and Jerry.

Adina Pitt, vice president of acquisitions and co-productions for Turner, Cartoon Network and Boomerang US added said that on “Following their  most recent worldwide multi-original series deal with Warner Bros. for Boomerang, this acquisition continues their overall strategy to build Boomerang as a strong second flagship global Kids network, complementary to Cartoon Network while Josselin Charier, co-founder of Studio Hari said that  couldn’t expect to find a broadcasting partner more aligned with the editorial positioning of their latest creation, a new classic physical comedy for the whole family.

Boomerang provides light-hearted and fun moments, showcasing a mixture of internationally recognised comedy and fantasy series to more than 144 million households worldwide. Core programs include Tom and Jerry, Mr. Bean, Scooby-Doo, The Garfield Show, My Little Pony and The Looney Tunes Show. A companion channel to Cartoon Network, Boomerang is a dynamic and quirky place where girls and boys can be inspired, laugh and play with the whole family.
