He loves to create Horror and Creatures. After making several features loaded with CG Creatures, VFX and Horror, stamped with his unique style and treatment, Wilson Louis has now created and directed a Water Creature in a unique horror themed commercial for Shri Ultra Cement.
Shree Ultra Cement Commercial
It’s a TV Commercial for promoting a Water Proof Cement Brand and interestingly the main character in the commercial is a Fearsome Water Creature that destroys buildings, townships and all that is built without the water proof cement brand.
An entire Night mood with a Rainy effect and a Horror treatment is set for the TVC. The haunted night time justified to the concept of the Monster destruction.
Creative Maestro Alyque Padamsee was involved in the conceptualizing of the commercial. Sharing his comment with AnimationXpress.com, Alyque pointed out, “The story of the commercial is done by me and Niksun Ad. World Inc. Even though the story is ours, the execution by Wilson is brilliant. I can claim it as one of the best TVCs for Shree Ultra Cement so far, especially the animation part of the commercial is a class apart. Wilson is solely responsible for the execution of the commercial and has done complete justification to his work. The commercial will boast a lot of sales and will also bring great appreciation for Wilson’s work.”
Elaborating on the commercial Wilson Louis, founder & Director of Wilson Louis Films said that, “My film Kaalo impressed the Client & hence they wanted a monster to be the main attraction for their TVC. Lot of films like Terminator, pictorials were referred by us and we developed close to 10 to 15 varied sketches to explore and eventually lock on the look of the monster. There were technical barriers but then ultimately we thought of not compromising on the fantastic monster theme & overcoming all the technicalities which ultimately made us quite happy with what was seen on the screen.”
The entire production work was done under Wilson Louis Films studio with the team consisting of Producer- Alvan, Avinash Valzade, Siraj Ansari who is the Modeler, Nilesh Jhadhav who managed to deliver the Fluid Dynamics for the Monster, VFX work handled by Ramji & Satyendra. The preproduction took around a month to complete, while the entire shooting was completed within 3 days time and 40 days were taken for the Post-Production. The Key thing which had to be taken care of was that they had to shoot in a particular kind of township, and had scenes of several people panicking and running helter skelter. Getting that correct, as per Wilson was the key challenge and as for the Water Creature, Wilson emphasizes that since he loves creating creatures, it was a complete pleasure and did not feel challenged to develop it at all.
Wilson shared that, “The creation of such a TVC by our team was pretty challenging but a very interesting task as well. Challenges were happily treated. When we locked the idea of the monster theme, there were many No’s to it but when it got completed, it was applauded, it was fun to work on it. An area which was tricky was the shot when the building comes down. We tried to create something similar to the research video which we collected. TVC’s have to be dealt precisely because of a very less time duration hence it is more challenging than any other medium.”
“Our TVC is now aired on all the new channels and it shall be on screen for the upcoming six months. ‘I always ran away from Television but now it’s a boon for me” Wilson concluded.
Starting from his stint at MAAC, Wilson Louis has come a long way. His first film HO SAKTA HAI established him as a director in the horror genre. Wanting to get into mainstream cinema, Louis has his successful filmography list, which includes some incredible films: Kaalo, Mallika,Shout & Ghat: The Hill Station, TVC’S, Short films and Events.
Wilson has won two prestigious international awards in South African horror fest for ‘best film & best cinematography’ for Kaalo – the Desert Witch.
