On Saturday night Comic-Con broke all the customs so far, by organising a special screening with Warner Bros that included the first episode of Constantine. As part of the event, Warner Bros TV premiered a new trailer of this show that may win over the fans of DC comics.
Featured in hundreds of comic book issues (including Hellblazer by vertigo comics), John Constantine has been a DC Comics staple since his first appearance as a supporting character in Swamp Thing in 1985 which was originally created by Alan Moore. It follows the story of a British magician, John Constantine, who is reluctantly thrust into the role of defending the world against dark forces from beyond.
UK native Matt Ryan (Layer Cake, Torchwood) stars as the title character. Harold Perrineau, Angelica Celaya, and Charles Halford are also part of the upcoming TV show.
The Constantine pilot is executive produced by Daniel Cerone (The Mentalist, Dexter) and David S. Goyer (The Dark Knight films, Man of Steel). Neil Marshall (The Descent, Game of Thrones) is directing from a teleplay by Daniel Cerone with story by Cerone and David S. Goyer.
Constantine is from Bonanza Productions Inc. in association with Warner Bros. Television and is based upon characters published by DC Entertainment.
According to The Wall Street Journal, DC currently has total of eleven comic book film adaptations which are in the process of development.
The series premieres Friday, October 24, at 10/9c on NBC.
