Warner Bros. to reboot ‘Scooby-Doo’ in another live-action

It’s been a while since we saw Scooby-Doo in flesh (well, not literally) but in a live action flick. The last live action was nearly 10 years ago and Warner Bros. is seriously looking at bringing the cowardly Great Dane back on the big screen.

The studio is “starting from scratch,” with Randall Green penning a script, as reported by Deadline; with the presumable exception of a CGI Scooby the rest of the movie will be a live action comedy.

The mystery solving gang last appeared on the big screen in 2002’s Scooby-Doo and its 2004 sequel, Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed, which starred Freddie Prinze Jr. as blond jock Fred, Sarah Michelle Gellar as danger-prone Daphne, Matthew Lillard as slacker Shaggy and Linda Cardellini as brainy Velma.

Though both movies were given the thumbs down by critics, the first grossed $275 million worldwide, and the follow-up took in $180 million.

Warner’s interest in reviving “Scooby-Doo” is the latest example of Hollywood studios looking to milk their preexisting properties, even those that have scarcely given moviegoers time to miss them.
