Rebel Wolves, a Poland-based video game development studio, has unveiled The Blood of Dawnwalker, a new action role-playing game built entirely in-house, alongside a launch trailer offering a deeper look at its dark fantasy world, supernatural powers and high-stakes story.
Set in the isolated valley of Vale Sangora, The Blood of Dawnwalker plunges players into a land caught between plague, superstition and vampire rule. By day, life appears almost ordinary. But when darkness falls, the valley’s rulers, the Vrakhiri, awaken to collect their royal tithe in blood.
Players take on the role of Coen, who finds himself caught between two worlds after being transformed against his will. Cursed with an insatiable hunger for blood as punishment for rebelling against his vampire masters, Coen becomes a dawnwalker: human by day and vampire by night.
Brencis, the valley’s new ruler, plans to execute Coen’s family and village in 30 days to mark his coronation, cementing his absolute rule. With little time and powerful enemies standing in his way, Coen must gather strength, resources and allies before it is too late.
His unusual transformation may also be his greatest weapon. Free from the control of his Vrakhir sire, Coen can carve his own path, but surviving alone against the vampire rulers will be another matter entirely.
The people of Vale Sangora are also beginning to turn against their supposed saviours. While the Vrakhiri’s blood once cured them of the plague, their rule has grown increasingly brutal. People are disappearing, dissenters are punished, and fear has replaced gratitude. A rebellion may be brewing, though convincing humans to place their trust in a vampire will not be easy.
Players will also explore the valley’s mines, ruins, swamps and underground caverns in search of resources and secrets. Silver, loathsome to the Vrakhiri, could help arm the rebellion, while ancient locations hide treasures, witchcraft and creatures drawn from mythology.
Tatzelwurms lurk in the swamps. Kobolds infest caves and mines. Ancient ruins conceal sorcerous secrets. In Vale Sangora, monsters are not confined to folklore. Coen’s journey will allow players to develop skills across swordplay, magic and vampiric abilities. But power comes with a price. Witchcraft leaves scars, while the hunger for blood constantly threatens to consume what remains of Coen’s humanity.
The game also places choice at the heart of its narrative, with players shaping Coen’s fate through their actions, alliances and decisions over the course of the story.
The Blood of Dawnwalker is now available on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox on PC.
