The prominent entertainment companies Aardman, Sky, Studiocanal and Gkids have announced a fresh batch of guest voices for Shaun the Sheep: The Beast of Mossy Bottom, bringing Nina Sosanya, Paul Whitehouse and Roman Kemp into Shaun’s woolly world for what promises to be his biggest adventure yet.
They join the previously announced Dani Dyer and Justin Fletcher, who return as the unmistakable voices of Shaun and Timmy. And because no Shaun the Sheep outing would be complete without a little rhythm, British hip-hop duo Rizzle Kicks are also stepping into the mix with a brand-new remix of the franchise’s iconic theme tune, Life’s A Treat.
In Aardman’s third stop-motion feature centred on the mischievous sheep, Sosanya will voice Mossingham’s trusted vet, while Whitehouse takes on the role of the local shopkeeper. Kemp will appear as a pizza boy, and Dyer makes her first foray into animation voice acting as the town’s social media-savvy Influencer.
The music gets a remix too. Having previously reworked Life’s A Treat for the first Shaun the Sheep Movie in 2015, Rizzle Kicks return with a fresh spin on the track, which will feature during the film’s end credits.
Rizzle Kicks’ Jordan Stephens shared, “I’ve proudly said working with Aardman on the Shaun the Sheep soundtrack is one of my best moments. Shaun is just iconic, and the song is a real banger.”
Rizzle Kicks member Harley Alexander-Sule added, “We grew up watching Wallace & Gromit, so when we were asked to remix Life’s A Treat, it was a very easy decision to make. We had loads of fun in the studio putting a fresh spin on it, and I can’t wait to watch the new film with my kids.”
As for the story, things are about to get properly baa-rmy. Shaun the Sheep: The Beast of Mossy Bottom finds the residents of Mossy Bottom farm eagerly preparing for Halloween, until the clumsy farmer destroys the flock’s treasured pumpkin patch. Shaun, naturally, decides to take matters into his own hooves and turns into a mad scientist in an attempt to fix the problem.
Predictably, things do not go to plan. With the farmer missing and a wild beast roaming the woods of Mossingham, Shaun and the flock find themselves in the middle of a monstrously fun family adventure packed with Halloween havoc, scientific mishaps and the sort of escalating chaos Aardman does best.
