Mizu’s hunt for revenge is heading beyond Japan as Blue Eye Samurai returns for its second season in January 2027.
The Emmy Award–winning animated series, created, written and executive produced by Amber Noizumi and Michael Green, will continue Mizu’s journey as she travels to London in search of the two remaining men who could be her father. A new teaser offers a first look at the next chapter of her quest.
Season two will see Mizu, voiced by Maya Erskine, encounter new allies, old enemies and challenges as she navigates an unfamiliar world. The move to London will also allow the series to explore Mizu’s experiences with Western culture and how Europeans respond to her.
Meanwhile, the story in Japan will continue to follow Akemi, voiced by Brenda Song, and Taigen, voiced by Darren Barnet as they navigate Edo Castle under a dangerous new shogun. Ringo, voiced by Masi Oka, will also search for a new purpose.
Erskine will return as Mizu alongside Song as Akemi, Barnet as Taigen and Oka as Ringo. The returning cast also includes Kenneth Branagh as Abhijah Fowler, George Takei as Seki, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa as the Swordmaker and Randall Park as Heiji Shindo.
Additional cast members from the first season include Stephanie Hsu as Ise, Ming-Na Wen as Madame Kaji, Harry Shum Jr. as Takyoshi and Mark Dacascos as Chiaki.
Noizumi and Green will continue to lead the creative team, with Erwin Stoff serving as executive producer. Jane Wu returns as supervising director and producer, while Blue Spirit remains the animation studio behind the Edo-period epic.
The creators said they are grateful to the team and viewers whose support allowed Mizu’s story to continue, adding that the character still has more of her revenge journey ahead.
The series is also set to have a defined conclusion. Blue Eye Samurai will arrive on Netflix in January 2027.
