Warner Bros. Pictures Animation and New Line Cinema officially announced that the Hello Kitty feature film is scheduled for 21 July 2028 release. The news came after many years of the development work on the project.
The studio made the announcement in an Instagram post. “Hello Hollywood 🎀🌴🎬 #HelloKittyMovie is coming to theaters July 21, 2028,” it read.
In the video, a performer dressed as Kitty can be seen addressing the viewers. This film marks the theatrical debut of Hello Kitty in Hollywood.
As per reports, Leo Matsuda will direct the animated feature on Sanrio’s immensely popular character. Beau Flynn and his FlynnPictureCo. will produce the film and Shelby Thomas will oversee the project for FlynnPictureCo.
Hello Kitty was created by Tokyo-based Sanrio in 1974. Initially introduced as a coin purse, The character became a global sensation and can be now found across the globe. It has appeared in comics, video games and animation as well as in a live-action kids’ series and has her own music album.
There is also a restaurant and Hello Kitty-themed bullet train in Japan. According to Sanrio, the character can be found on more than 50,000 products a year.
