India’s Zebu Animation Studios has been nominated for two Collision Awards, for its work on a Lego Ninjago x Dreamzzz video. The teaser, titled I just had the most outrageous dream, was created to promote Lego’s new animated series and toy-line Lego Dreamzzz.
The Collision Awards aims to honour excellence in animation and motion design across all segments — marketing & communication, commercials, television, film, experiential, and games & XR. The finalists can win a Collision Award, as decided by the Collision Jury, and the Collision Audience Choice Award based on the votes received from the public. Zebu Animation is a finalist in two of the Audience Choice categories, for which people around the world can cast their votes till 11:59 PST, 11 July 2024.
The promo, I just had the most outrageous dream, came out to rave reviews and helped build anticipation for the now hit series that is streaming on all major OTT platforms garnering millions of views.
“The promotional videos were important for us to establish a new pipeline using realtime rendering. Our CG and technical teams, led by Jesu Kiran and Rakshith Hoskote were monumental in making the transition happen and helping the studio adopt new technologies,“ said Zebu Animation’s founder and creative director Veerendra Patil, who is nominated for a Collision award for Directing. The studio’s lighting supervisor Srinivasan CC is nominated for Lighting.
“A nomination like this means a lot to the team of Zebu, many of whom are young artists working from cities like Hubli, Trivandrum, Bengaluru, and remotely from different parts of India and beyond,” continued Patil. “Its exciting to be nominated alongside stellar works from all across the world, but it would be a big win for Zebu and the Indian industry if we bag this award.”
The synopsis of the commercial video reads: A day at the Monastery of Spinjitzu in Ninjago® City starts like any other. Until Master Wu wakes in a trance after having the most outrageous dream. He was surrounded by a massive turtle and crocodile with vehicles on their backs. Then suddenly, a giant purple chicken appeared at his side! The ninja do dream. But these dreams were different. Something foreign to the Ninjago world … Something outrageous is coming: a world of your wildest dreams.
Collision Awards were launched in 2024 itself, in partnership with various industry leaders. The winners will be announced on 16 July 2024.
