Heavy metal band Metallica is set to arrive on the popular battle royale video game, Fortnite. The music experience titled “Metallica: Fuel. Fire. Fury” is part of the fourth season of Fortnite’s music mode Fortnite Festival.
In the Fortnite Festival mode, 16 players get on stage to perform a four-song setlist of hit music, while taking and launching attacks. In the end, one player emerges victorious. The S4 featuring Metallica started on 13 June and will end on 16 August, during which time players can seek and destroy their opponents on the Battle Stage.
Players will be able to experience the in-game concert “Metallica: Fuel. Fire. Fury” only on two days of the season – 22 June (2 pm, 5 pm & 11 pm ET) and 23 June (10 am, 2 pm, 5 pm ET), for 30 minutes each showtime.
The Metallica-themed gameplay will be available in additional Fortnite modes: Battle Royale, Lego Fortnite, and Rocket Racing. Since the band members James Hetfield, Kirk Hammett, Robert Trujillo and Lars Ulrich are the icons of S4, the season will have the band’s skins, gliders, emotes and a Rocket Racing track among others.
With the game’s Festival Pass, players can access the band members’ outfits. Other cosmetic rewards to grind include Ride the Lighting guitar gliders, The Ringer Emote and Jäger 619 Car Body Bundle among others. The battle royale has added the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees Metallica’s greatest hits to its shop, including songs like Enter Sandman, Master of Puppets, Fuel, Ride the Lightning, The Unforgiven and Wherever I May Roam.
Fortnite has also announced a Support-A-Creator program where streamers can share their own experience of the event with their audience.
