Industrial Light & Magic (ILM), known for creating path-breaking visual effects for films like Jurassic Park franchises, announced the opening of a new office in Mumbai. The full production facility of ILM that has contributed to over 350 films, winning 16 Oscars, 33 Sci-Techs, and five Emmy Awards, will be launched here this Diwali.
“This Diwali season, ILM is excited to announce the launch of our Mumbai studio! With this latest expansion of our galaxy, we look forward to shining an even greater light on our rich tradition of storytelling,” ILM shared in an official post.
ILM is part of the Lucasfilm empire founded by George Lucas in 1975 to deliver the effects on Star Wars. Since those humble origins on a parking lot north of Hollywood, the company ballooned and has gone on to work on not just the entire Star Wars universe but the Indiana Jones and Jurassic Park franchises, and tentpoles from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Their recent projects include No Time To Die, Black Widow, A Quiet Place Part 2, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and so on.
As per a report in Variety, the former DNEG Bangalore and Chennai studio head Kiran Prasad ‘KP’ will be at the helm of ILM Mumbai. Prasad will lead operations and report to ILM SVP and GM Janet Lewin.
