Studio 100 Media has closed a multi-brand deal with global media company SPI International for the digital exploitation of several 2D animation classic series from its extensive catalogue. The contract will give SPI non-exclusive worldwide AVOD and SVOD rights on SPI platforms such as FilmBox+, FilmBox on demand, Film1, ToonzBox and ToonzStream. The shows Maya the Bee, Heidi, Pinocchio and Alice in Wonderland will be available on-demand in various language versions, including English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish.
The official synopsis of all the series is as follows:
Maya the Bee – Maya is a little bee like no other bee you’ll ever see! A real non-conformist, her thirst for adventure has led her out of her hive and into the meadow beyond. She’s as free as a…bee can be! The world is just too big and too fascinating to tie yourself down to the boring and orderly life of the hive.
Heidi – Pint-size but full of life, Heidi, a young orphan with curly brown hair and as cute as a button, is taken to live with her grandfather, a silent and solitary old man, in the Swiss Alps. Her new life is very challenging and living in the mountains can be harsh, but Heidi is going to muster up courage and strength and prove that she can be right at home.
Pinocchio – The Carpenter Geppetto builds a marionette and names it Pinocchio. But, on his numerous adventures, the marionette runs into quite a bit of trouble. Fortunately, the tooth fairy comes to help him, giving him a raven, an owl and talking cricket. Pinocchio later finds himself on the Island of Toys and is transformed into a donkey. After a brave escape, he ends up in the belly of a shark where he saves Geppetto, who was also swallowed by the shark while searching at sea for Pinocchio.
Alice in Wonderland: Alice in Wonderland re-creates Lewis Carroll’s celebrated tale of a young girl’s trip down a dream-like rabbit hole. Alice encounters an outrageous series of characters. Every step of the way, there appears some surreal stumbling block that she must either escape or reason away.
The studio has not revealed the date when these animated classics will be available on SPI platforms.
