Animation Masters Summit (AMS) 2022, the five-day long virtual summit organised by Toonz Media Group, concluded on Friday. With the theme ‘Creativity For Good’, this year’s summit hosted various panel discussions, master classes by a galaxy of stalwarts from diverse fields of media and entertainment across the world.
AMS digital edition began on 23 May, by honouring artist, writer and activist Aabid Surti with Legend of Indian Animation Award, and bestowed Technicolor Creative Studios country head Biren Ghose with Special Contribution to Indian Animation Industry Award. Toonz Media Group CEO P. Jayakumar, Google India country head and VP Sanjay Gupta, FICCI AVGC chairman and Punnaryug Artvision founder Ashish Kulkarni and AMS festival director Anish Narayanan Kutty were present at the inaugural session.
The day two of the summit witnessed an insightful panel discussion titled Creativity for Good, the panel included animation film-maker Kireet Khurana and Chocolate Moose Media chairman Firdaus Kharas and moderated by Ghose. The session discussed the challenges, possibilities, and overpowering experience of using animation as a medium to highlight social causes. Followed by a super engaging session on advertising by Ogilvy India CCO Sukesh Nayak. He shared inside stories and anecdotes from the blockbuster campaigns that he has spearheaded and shared tips and tricks of advertising with the attendees.
On day three, Emmy Award-winning composer Wendell Hanes conducted a masterclass on how to compose songs and music for the animated titles and discussed various key points to keep in mind while creating music. Followed by an International panel discussion on Creating joy for kids through animation, the panel included personalities like Ron Gell, Rich Magallanes, and Bruno Zarka. The panelists shared their experiences and anecdotes, highlighted the importance of creativity and responsibility while creating kids content.
On day four, the Belgian animation director-producer Paul Demeyer took the attendees through his career spanning over five decades. Paul shared glimpses of his work ranging from commercials, movies, series, graphic novels, and even letters to his dear ones filled with adorable doodles.
The maker of the first ever Sanskrit animation feature Punyakoti Ravishankar Venkateswaran showcased the making of his film, he took the audience through the marvelous journey of producing this iconic film. Punyakoti was a fully crowd-funded and crowd-sourced movie.
A week long virtual summit concluded with an empowering master session by GaurdianLink CTO Arjun Reddy, delved on the latest growing NFT marketplace, he shared about how NFTs are growing rapidly, and how it is helping the creative artistic community development.
