Anime Convention, India’s only pop culture celebration, Cinedarbaar’s flagship event is all set to roll in its fourth year from 27th – 29th September 2013 in Marwah Studios, Film City, Noida. Several Professionals from Animation, Gaming, Comics, Graphic Novel and Mangas industries will be present. Guests from Korea, USA, Japan, Switzerland and India are expected to feed in with knowledge, entertainment and experience to its visitors. Workshops, Master-classes, Sessions, Gaming Tournaments, Exhibitions, Merchandise, Food, Cosplay Competition and special activities for children in the Kids Corner – the convention will see all of these and much more.
Talking to AnimationXpress.com, Nitesh Rohit, 4th Anime Festival Director says “Anime Convention is an important platform for Anime and Manga education development in India. This year is in fact a milestone as some of the renowned studios and animators are participating at the Convention”
With Korea as its country partner, the Convention in association with Korean Cultural Center, Delhi, will see Korean Animation Movies like S Robot Taekwon V by Kim Cheong-Gi, The King of Pigs by Yeon Sang-Ho etc, Karoke Lounge with KPOP music and dance, Korean Food, Korean Fashion Show (Hanbok), Session on Korean Design and other activities promoting the rich Korean Culture throughout the 3 days. It will also feature discussion on Korean Aspects of design, gaming and culture. As I. G is well-known for its Patlabor and the GhostintheShell series, Mr. Nao Hirasawa, Producer, Production I.G will also share his experiences and projects at the Production I.G.
Chris Solarski and Mario Von Rickenbach., Award winning Video Game Designers from Switzerland are also invited for this event. Diago Umehara aka ‘The Beast’, Pro-Gamer from Japan in arcade and street fighting and also a Guinness World Record holder will also be seen showing his exceptional offence and defense, devastating mental game, playing with and challenging the audience.
Ry? Hirano, one of the upcoming animator, popular for his unconventional myriad animation in Japan and other countries too, will take a master-class on animation and design for the very first time. Ryan Holmberg , an independent historian of Japanese art and comics, USA, will offer a glimpse at manga produced in the wake of catastrophic events of Meltdown and Tsunami on March 11, 2011 in Japan. In another of his talks on History of Manga, he will blaze through two hundred years of Japanese Manga in forty-five minutes.
From Bangalore, Bharath Murthy, Manga-Comics Historian and now filmmaker, will conduct a full day workshop on Manga drawing and share his shooting experience in Japan for his recent movie, with the audience.
Shoei Emura, Japanese Manga Artist based in Delhi will be present to take a few workshops on Manga drawing and sketching. Other activities include sessions on 3D Assets and Gaming, panel discussion on Geekdom, Competitions, like Treasure Hunt, the ever popular – Cosplay, Quizzes and Gaming Tournaments and the Kids Corner.
The Anime Convention, aims to create a platform that will allow the aspirants, students, fans, geeks, professionals to interact with the best from the world of animation, gaming and comics/manga and exploit the opportunity to the best. It remains to be non-commercial like earlier and all the sessions are free to attend. However, prior registration for sessions and competitions is necessary.
