Graphic Novelist Harsho Mohan Chattoraj’s Workshop at Comic Con Express Hyderabad

At the first ever Comic Con Express Hyderabad that starts tomorrow, Graphic Novelist and Illustrator Harsho Mohan Chattoraj, through workshops, will explain the ins and outs of Creating your own Comic Book and own Comic Character.

Harsho Mohan Chattoraj, who comes with 10 years of experience in the comic creation sphere, first published his comics in 2009 which include ‘Operation Military’ and ‘Charlz of Marz’ – published in the US, ‘Around the Swiss World in 20 Days’ – published in India and Switzerland in an Indo-Swiss anthology titled ‘When Kulbhushan Met Stockli’, and a few pages of TINKLE and RANDOM.

Currently working as freelancer artist, Harsho has also been the illustrator for Amar Chitra Katha’s recently released graphic novel ‘Dhyan Chand’ as well as for Hyderabad Graphic Novel, both set to launch at this comic con Hyderabad edition.

Jumpstarting tomorrow from 11 30 am, in the workshop on Create Your Own Comic Book Character, Harsho will put light on the prime points to be taken into picture while creating an appealing character and also will focus on varied sorts of comic book characters that can be created and developing character personalities.

Harsho Mohan Chattoraj talks to AnimationXpress.com regarding his plan of action for his workshops, “There are two chief factors that I would focus on with one being that whether the character is going to be more important than the storyline of your comic book and the other one being that are the characters dictated by your story”.

In the next session ‘Create Your Own Comics’ that is slated for 22nd September from 11 30 am onwards, Harsho will take the attendees through the ideation, character development, scripting, Layouting, artwork creation and lettering aspects of a comic book.

“I will be making the attendees aware of the basic principles that go into creating your comic book and motivate them to take up a career in comics.”, informs Harsho.

Every comic book has a punch that attracts the readers, so what is it for Harsho? “I feel the art style of a comic book should be exceptionally brilliant as it is the first impression that the reader gathers.”

For creating a comic book character, Harsho feels that it is a good practice to figure out the genre of the book and then create your character accordingly. “For creating a good character, it is essential to decide on which quality of the character will make it visually appealing to the genre it is created for.”

After both these sessions, attendees will be given a chance to draw their own imaginative comic characters and also create a comic book, which Harsho will give feedback on.
