The 17th Asian Television Awards: Call for Entries!

The 17th year for Asian Television Awards (ATA) has begun call for entries and the deadline for submission is June 15, 2012. These awards are industry-recognized annual Awards in a celebration of honoring the outstanding achievements of terrestrial broadcasters, cable and satellite networks, and independent production houses in the region. Entry forms can be found here. All winners will be announced at the annual ATA Gala Ceremony on Thursday, December 6 at the Shangri-La Hotel in Singapore.

This year, three new award categories have been introduced, namely Best 2D Animated Programme, Best 3D Animated Programme and Best Sports Presenter/Commentator, adding up to a total of 38 categories across television genres and performance segments. In addition, broadcasters and networks who chalk up the most number of winning entries (1st place and runner ups) will vie for the four top awards – Terrestrial Channel of the Year, Cable & Satellite Channel of the Year, Terrestrial Broadcaster of the Year, and Cable & Satellite Network of the Year. ATA attracts a multitude of entries from a wide range of broadcasters, including free-to-air television stations and pay-TV platforms, as well as many independent production houses in Asia.

Winner for Best Animation in 2010, Ashish S.K. of Big Animation, said: “Asian TV Awards is the most prestigious award for television content in this part of the world. Especially contending with such amazing works from several countries and winning the award is a moment of gratification for us as well as for the entire Indian animation industry.”

Launched in 1996, ATA is the Asian TV industry’s most significant and celebrated event, recognizing excellence in programming, production and performance.

Determined by an expert panel of over 50 judges from across the region, the results are tabulated and audited by international auditing firm Price Waterhouse Coopers, with the winners only announced during the Awards Ceremony. The judging process has also been brought into the digital era by being conducted on-line. Professionals who wish to become jurors may email their applications to laura.low@tenalpsasia.com.

“The prestige of the Awards relies on the high-calibre juries that are convened each year to review submissions,” said Raymond Wong, CEO, Ten Alps Communications Asia and Organiser of the ATA. “Since 1996, this prestigious Awards programme has given creative talents, both in front of and behind the camera, the opportunity to have their work judged by media professionals. The ATA continues to be the most coveted peer-recognised Awards in the industry.”
