Disney’s The Lion Guard: Return of the Roar which recently released its first trailer in mid-August had created a lot of buzz has released its first footage on 7 October.
The Lion Guard is set to take place after The Lion King Part II, which told the story of Simba and Nala’s daughter. The new film revolves around their son, Kion who grows up to become leader of the Lion Guard.The TV movie is all set to premiere on 22 November on Disney Channel and shall be telecast in the United States and Canada initially.
Kion goes the Disney heroic way of challenging tradition by calling on a multi-species group of friends: Bunga, a fearless honey badger; Fuli, a confident cheetah; Beshte, a happy-go-lucky hippo; and Ono, an intellectual egret. Stories will include special appearances by Mufasa, Timon, Pumbaa, Rafiki, Zazu and Kion’s older sister Kiara, the future Queen of the Pride Lands.Max Charles has lend the voice of Kion, Rob Lowe and Gabrielle Union star as Simba and Nala. James Earl Jones and Ernie Sabella reprised their Lion King roles as Mufasa and Pumbaa.
At the D-23 Expo a few months ago, Disney showcased a small clipping of the forthcoming Disney Channel TV movie and animated series kick-off The Lion Guard: Return of the Roar. It is sequel to the epic musical film The Lion King which came out back in 1994 and is the third highest-grossing animated film of all time. The animated series of The Lion Guard will premiere in early 2016.
