Nickelodeon is combining its most loved characters for a new crossover episode, which will reflect on young viewers’ experiences during the covid-19 lockdown. The channel, recognising the need to provide comforting content for kids during a difficult time, has announced a new special that reflects that social shift, featuring animated shows The Loud House and The Casagrandes. Titled, The Loud House & The Casagrandes Hangin’ At Home, the special is part of Nick’s #KidsTogether initiative, which will premiere on 23 May.
In the special, the main characters from each respective show—Lincoln Loud and Ronnie Anne Casagrande—do exactly what the title says: they hang and catch-up over video chat. Also, according to press materials, the entire special, from the writing, animation voice acting, and editing, was produced from home within the span of a week. The special will also feature previously released clips from both shows.
The original animation was created using Adobe Character Animator in nearly a week, where artists listened to voice over and, using keyboard shortcuts, triggered certain animations on the characters. The voice actors behind these characters recorded their lines from home, which were then matched with the animation.
The pair will share helpful tips and funny anecdotes about what their families are all doing while staying home, while flashing back to previous episodes featuring their big and fun-loving families.
