Netflix teases with first look of Marvel’s Jessica Jones

Earlier this year, Marvel and Netflix’s team-up released a 13 episode Daredevil series that exploited the origin-story of the scarlet vigilante, in the crime-infested Hell’s Kitchen. Continuing the approach to fill in Marvel characters in the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), Marvel envisaged a bigger picture at the small-screen space introducing four superhero series, Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist and Luke Cage, all of which are planned to connect to a mini-series, The Defenders.

Of these the first superhero series, Daredevil was critically acclaimed by the masses reporting a 98% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes and an average rating of 8.2/10 on IMDB.com. Following the timeline, Marvel’s next series in line is Jessica Jones another Marvel character which will be weaved into the same universe as the Avengers and our Hell’s Kitchen vigilante, Daredevil are a part of.

Releasing only on Netflix this November, with the same 13 episode format, Jessica Jones will star Krysten Ritter as the lead superhero turned detective. The first season of the series will exploit the former super heroine’s private investigations involving closely her connections to the superhero world and reportedly introducing other Marvel known characters like Luke Cage played by Mike Colter.

Here’s a minute long teaser of what we’re in for with Marvel’s Jessica Jones.

With Minnie Riperton’s ‘Loving You’ playing in the background, we see a messy bedroom strewn with newspapers, clothes, even a whiskey bottle and as the camera moves along it shows the traditional clock striking a 3 pm alarm. Naturally our leading lady starts her day too late, perhaps because she ends her night that way as well. The teaser ends at a strong note with Jessica crushing the poor alarm clock to bits in her palm promising a strong feminine presence on the show.

The show also stars David Tennant as Kilgrave, Rachael Taylor as Trish Walker and Carrie- Anne Moss as Harper among other lead characters.
