Epic Studios does Stereo and DI for Saint Dracula 3D

Mumbai based Epic studios recently delivered stereoscopic and DI shots for the film Saint Dracula 3D which had its first premiere at Cannes film festival.

Saint Dracula 3D is an adaptation of the novel Saint Dracula. The film is produced by BIZ TV Network and directed by Rupesh Paul. It is a 2 hours horror movie that will be released in August 2012. The movie holds the record for being ‘‘the first ever 3D movie on Dracula’.

Speaking to Animationxpress.com about the movie, Sapan Narula, Managing Partner, Epic studios, said, “Its really proud moment for us at Epic Studios for Saint Dracula 3D’s premier in Cannes. We not only did the whole Stereo Compositing and DI for the film, but also shot 40% of the film on 3D Panasonic cameras. We in total are credited 5 times in the titles including Stereoscopic Consultation and Vfx, Post Production Supervision, 3D Edit, Stereo Compositing and DI”

Apart from Sapan Narula there were 6 other artists from Epic Studios who worked for the film, Kiran Pawar for DI, Jayesh Sharma for Stereo Compositing, Priyanka Pansare on 3D Editing,  Jeemon PV on Stereo Shoot, Siddharth Narda, Sajal Soni and Pratik as an assistant for Post Production Supervisor.

Further talking about the challenges faced by the team Sapan said,”One of the most challenging part was matching left and right, because both RED and Panasonic 3D had their own kind of workflow, Panasonic 3D being easier to handle, RED footage had lots of frame drops and few close up shots which we had to convert from 2D-3D.”

Recently Epic Studios completed their first 3D film “Katari Veer Sura Sundrangi’ (first kanadda film in 3D) which just got released on 10th may, The film was entirely shot on Panasonic 3D by EPIC Studios. Besides Katari Veer Sura Sundrangi the studio has three more 3D stereo films in pipeline and they are also developing their own 3D Animation IP at EPIC Studios Mumbai.
