What’s the usual norm seen in a movie? There’s a good guy and a bad guy. Hero defeats the villain and all is hail and hearty. But what if there’s no good guy in the movie and there’s a villain, an enemy out there posing threat to the the world? Who will save the world? The answer is the ‘worst of the worst’ assemblage! You heard it right folks. This bizarre situation is what we will get to witness in DC’s upcoming live action movie Suicide Squad.
Warner Bros. Pictures released the first official Suicide Squad trailer, following its debut on the DC Films Presents: Dawn of the Justice League special on The CW. And the trailer is not something one would expect coming out of DC Entertainment and we are saying this with all good intentions. The trailer catches one’s attention right from the word go with the soaring vocals of Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody offering satirical introduction to the Squad with it’s opening line ‘Is this the real life’.
Not giving out much about the trailer, we can safely say it’s sick, amazing, awesome and more. As opposed to the trailer seen in the San Diego Comic Con where Amanda Waller played by Viola Davis gives out details about why the villains are being chosen to rescue the world, this official trailer concentrates on the introduction of each and every member of the Suicide Squad and what are they known for. The trailer sure carries a dark, gritty tone that’s seen in DC movies but at the same time it’s offering a new twist as well. The punches thrown by Boomerang, the creepy aura around Enchantress, the silent Katana, Deadshot being beaten up, Joker diving in to rescue Harley Quinn, and the crazy edge attached to the whole trailer makes one laugh, get creeped out, leaving one to watch it again and again.
As far as the trailer goes, each and every actor has done a great job in getting out the right emotions for their characters, be it Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn or Jay Hernandez as El Diablo. And we get to see more of Joker played by Jared Leto. As the poster released, we can also see Joker standing away from the squad and in the The CW special, Geoff Johns confirms that Joker is definitely not a part of the Suicide Squad team, leaving us with the thought that maybe he’s one of the bad guys the Squad has to battle against.
There’s also a new flavour seen in the lettering, logo and the credit scenes which is a welcoming change and goes with the overall theme of the movie. The movie is set to release on 5 August 2016 and will star Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flagg, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, Karen Fukuhara as Katana, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Killer Croc, Adam Beach as Slipknot.
