CNBC TV18, India�s leading business medium along with Arena Multimedia has instituted The Golden Cursor Excellence in Animation Awards which are being powered by Animation Xpress.Com , the world�s No 1 source for news, information and connectivity with the Indian animation ecosystem.
The awards will recognize excellence in the animation industry and have been conceptualized with the objective of enhancing and shaping the future of the Indian Animation industry as it expands its foothold in the international animation arena.
The Golden Cursor Animation Awards in excellence will felicitate the animation developers in two basic categories: student and professional (divided into 15 categories which are listed below). The announcement of the Awards has created a buzz in the Industry, and the entries are flowing in, in large numbers. The registration process is simple where participants have to log on to www.animationxpress.com/goldencursor and download the registration as well as categories forms, fill in the details asked for and attach the DVD Pal of the entry and send it to the AnimationXpress.com address given below. The last date for recieving of entries has been extended to 20th December 2007 and the Awards are slated to be held during Feb – March â€?07.
A panel constituting of Animation experts from The Cell (The TV18 graphics & animation team), AnimationXpress.com & Tech2 editorial team, will do the first screening and filtering the entries on the basis of pre- determined parameters. The entries will then by adjudged by a panel of stalwarts and experts from the Indian animation industry whose names will be announced soon.
The Indian animation market is slowly catching up with global markets with about US $345 million in 2006, a growth of 24 percent over the previous year. The sector is forecast to reach US $869 million by 2010 at a CAGR of 25 percent over the 2006- 2010 period. (Source: Nasscom)
While commenting on the need for the award in this space, Ajay Chacko, Head Marketing, CNBC Universe said, “The Indian animation industry is currently driving on two key factors: a large base of highly skilled labour and low cost of production. There are around 300 animation companies in India employing about 12,000 employees.
